I think I have excitement triggered insomnia.  I couldn't sleep earlier, so I got out of bed and here I sit, on my couch, waiting for the Patriots game to start.  I think I'm amped up because I finally got Phil's story posted to the website, and I think it's probably the best thing I've ever written.
I mean that.  I'm very proud of it and I desperately want to hear feedback about it.  Not sycophantic bullshit, but legit feedback from peers.  I think it's stand up as a great piece.
I also think if I can get folks to read it, they will join my site, and become fans.
We've had four great days in a row, one of those was spectacular, and I have a strong feeling that after today, traffic will be way up.  The Walking Dead has a new episode tonight, and if Joe and I can get a few messages into the Facebook even that're timed well, i think we can add another dozen members.  At least.  I think we're almost at the point where we'll be adding 6-8 members a day.  Right now we've been in business 15 days, and we have almost 50 members, and god knows how many unregistered readers.
I feel successful, but there are so many moments where I feel like the site should be growing much faster.  This feels like project that could.. you know. be the one.

Its sort of frustrating trying to promote a website.  There are so many websites out there all trying to do the same damn things.  Trying to make a site thats unique, and offers something people want is tough.
I would like to think the writing I've got up on adriansundeaddiary.com is good, I would really like to think that's its above average, and possiblyexcellent.
But how do I get more folks to go there and read it?  I put links all over the place heading to the site, I put links up on my site leading to others.. I spam facebook profiles wth similar interests, I spam facebook profiles with totally different interests...  I've got a facebook ad running...
I need more ideas people!  Anyone out there with more expertise than me with some advice?

New fiction for the diary

For those of you who read the website currently, I have an announcement.  Starting soon I will be writing some companion fiction set in Adrian's world.
These pieces will be short fiction based in Adrian's timeline focusing on the people that he has encountered in his travels and exploits.  Not everyone will get thier day in the sun though, only some folks.
More of Adrian's town and situation will come to light with these stories, and readers will get additional insight into him, his world, and his situation.
I woud love hear back from readers about what they think about this, and what they would like to see in these short stories.

Almost Halloween...

Ladies and gentlemen.

It's 40 minutes to Halloween where I'm sitting tonight.  That means I am about to publish the big Halloween entry an Adrian's Undead Diary.  Pretty excited.  It's the longest entry yet, and has a LOT of action and starts to reveal much of the detail behind how he secured the campus he's calling home.

If you're a fan of scary things, zombies, undead, vampires or whatever.. check it out in 45 minutes or so.

Incidentally, I hit the Celtics vs Knicks game Friday.  Was wonderful!  Celtics won and Rondo put up a huge triple double.  Gotta love it.

Generic update

I am a whore.  I've signed up at about 20 websites the last week to pimp the website.  If I see one more capcha I'll lose my goddamn mind.

Such is the life of a person self promoting thier writing on a website.  I guess I should've done a website about teenage super skinny, angst ridden vampires if I wanted a real number of hits.  Twilight for the win.

Fuck vampires.  At least, fuck those vampires.

Here's a taste of the October 27th entry from Adrian's Diary:

Amy’s comment got a laugh out of me. “What the fuck happened to you?”   I remember just shaking my head confused at her.  I had no idea what she was talking about.  She was kind enough to point out my current blood soaked clothing and generally disheveled appearance.  I remember looking down and being vaguely shocked at my own appearance.  I was fucking covered in zombie goo.  I had streaks of blood all over my sweatshirt, my jeans, and apparently my face.  I hadn’t seen myself in a mirror all day.  You know, in retrospect, it might’ve been the fact that I looked like a blood-soaked, shotgun toting maniac that the girl at the gas station was weirded out.  Live and learn I guess.

From the October 13th diary entry.

A trip to the gas station isn't what it used to be:

Now let me clear something up for un-initiated:  beheading someone isn’t easy.  There’s a lot of muscle, cartilage, bone, sinew and jazz in the neck, and unless you have a heavy duty axe, or big sword, it’s fucking work to chop a head off.  Certainly not like in the movies where a cavalier swing send the head flying and a gout of blood fountaining from the neck.  So it goes without saying I didn’t get it on the first swipe.  However my strike was pretty high on the neck, and it crushed her jaw completely, as well as knocking her to the ground.  She landed face down, and I curb stomped her head from behind.  She twitched a few times, and I moved away to address Wally.  (I was assuming at some point I would find the zombie Beaver shortly)

Enjoy!

Excerpt from the october 4th entry:

The day the world ended Adrian was struggling with traffic.  Here's a smidge of his day, that day.

Anyway, downtown was pretty tame.  The power was still on downtown, and I ran the red light cautiously in the center of town.  There was no traffic anyway, and I wanted to get to the store to get food before it was literally gobbled up.  The final two miles to the store was more or less uneventful.  I got passed on the road twice by jackasses driving giant pickup trucks.  One of them flipped me off as he passed me on a solid yellow and I just had to laugh.  World is ending and this guy is such a dink that he has give me the finger for not doing 60 in a 30.  Some people are just assholes.  I hope he got eaten by another asshole.  The second guy who passed me was much nicer though.  No middle finger.

Welcome to my blog about my website!

For those of you who do not know me, my name is Chris, and I am the author of Adrian's Undead Diary.  I'm going to use this post to get a little personal first, then perhaps discuss the website and the story a bit after.
I love Zombies.  Since I was maybe 12 years old, I have been fascinated with the end of the world via a zombie apocalypse.  My childhood friends and I discussed plan upon plan upon plans year after year to figure out what exactly we should do.  In fact, when I was in high school I actually started to write a story about it, using myself and my friends as characters.
It didn't get far, but it has always been a fodn memory.
Enter today, and a little extra free time and ambition.  My work has long stretches of downtime where I am free to do whatever I please, so long as I am available when something happens.  I now have almost 5-6 hours a day that I can dedicate to writing, so that's what I'm doing.

http://adriansundeaddiary.spruz.com/

That's my website.  It chronicles the diary and journal of Adrian Ring.  Adrian is a modest man from a small town who has decided to talk to a journal to save his sanity, keep himself organized, and to keep a record of what is happening.
Adrian is mostly a good man, (though powerfully sarcastic) but as time and stress work on him, he comes unraveled now and then.  I think the writing is my finest so far, and I really want feedback from hopeful fans, and from peers in general.  Please join the site if you like it, it lets me know who my readers are, and I would love to form a supportive community to entertain everyone.

This blog will be used to a) spread the word, and b) sound off about more personal things that may or may not have anything to do with the website.  As they say in show business, any attention is good attention.

Thanks for looking!

-Chris
